Cogeneration (Combined Heat and Power or CHP) is the simultaneous production of electricity and heat, both of which are used. Today cogeneration saves Europe around 200 million tonnes of CO2 per year. By 2030, studies indicate that at least 20% of electricity and 25% of heat could come from cogeneration in Europe.
