The Smart-A project assesses the overall potential for load-shifting by domestic appliances and compares this with requirements from sustainable energy generation both on the local as well as in larger electricity systems. On 15 June a project workshop presented the results and discussed the proposed concept for smart appliances and their integration in the energy system. The workshop was a side event of the – 5th International Conference on Energy Efficiency in Domestic Appliances and Lighting (EEDAL 2009)-, which took place from 16 to 18 June.
