OverviewPublished on 07-02-2009

COGEN Europe was created in 1993 to reflect the clear need for greater co-operative efforts at a European level to realise the full potential for cogeneration. COGEN Europe’s status is that of a Belgian non for profit organisation (vzw).

COGEN Europe’s Membership includes more than 70 power companies, power authorities, national cogeneration associations, suppliers, and other organisations involved in cogeneration in 30 countries.

The Executive Committee is the formal management body of COGEN Europe.

A considerable part of the thematic work of COGEN Europe is done through working groups. They provide input to the policy debates and expert knowledge on the functioning of the cogeneration market. At the moment there are five active working groups:

  • Working Group ‘Emissions Trading & CHP’
  • Working Group ‘Micro CHP’
  • Working Group ‘Bio-Energy’
  • Working Group ‘IPPC ‘
  • Working Group ‘Grid Connections’

The COGEN Europe Office is located in Brussels, opposite the Madou Tower. The address is: Avenue des Arts 3-4-5, B-1210 Brussels. Find directions on how to get to the office here.

The COGEN Europe network covers the whole of the European Union, Central and Eastern Europe, and includes also Japan, Australia, New Zealand and the United States.
