COGEN Europe welcomes new member Shell

COGEN Europe is delighted to welcome Shell as a new member to the association. Shell is a global energy company, producing & supplying energy to a wide variety of customers. Shell is also a major user of CHP on its refineries.

“We are pleased to join COGEN Europe in helping policymakers design EU energy, climate and industrial policies that work in harmony to harness the potential of cogeneration”, said Wouter Koopman, the Affairs Manager for Gas at Shell.

Shell is a global group of energy and petrochemical companies with an average of 93,000 employees in more than 70 countries. Shell’s core values are honesty, integrity and respect for people. They also strive to maintain a diverse and inclusive culture within our company. Shell uses advanced technologies and takes an innovative approach to help build a sustainable energy future. As energy projects become more complex and more technically demanding, Shell believes their engineering expertise will be a deciding factor in the growth of its businesses.

Wouter Koopman further states “Our key strengths include the development and application of technology, the financial and project management skills that allow us to deliver large field development projects, and the management of integrated value chains. Our strategy seeks to reinforce our position as a leader in the oil and gas industry, while helping to meet global energy demand in a responsible way.
Safety and environmental and social responsibility are at the heart of our activities. We believe that oil and gas will remain a vital part of the global energy mix for many decades to come. Our role is to ensure that we extract and deliver these energy resources profitably and in environmentally and socially responsible ways. We seek a high standard of performance, maintaining a strong and growing longterm position in the competitive environments in which we operate. We aim to work closely with our customers, our partners and policymakers to advance a more efficient and sustainable use of energy and natural resources.”

Representing a wide diversity of companies from large industrial users and equipment manufacturers to small-scale and micro-CHP companies, COGEN Europe is the voice of the European cogeneration sector.
With a network that includes key contacts in Brussels and throughout Europe, the association is best.
