The Belgian Senate, with its 60 senators, 133 assistants and 180 staff, decided to cut its energy bills and CO2 emissions. Having examined several possibilities, a cogeneration unit turned out to be the best option to heat up a surface of 21,379 m2 and generate electricity for all its offices.

The installed cogeneration unit has a total efficiency over 87% with an electrical output of 70kW and a heat output of 114kW. Last year, it generated 134 MWh of electricity saving 30 tonnes of CO2.
